The importance of networking

Networking is an important factor in business. It can help you grow your business, make new connections, and create opportunities. However, networking is not just about meeting new people. It’s also about engaging with the ones you already know.

Networking groups can be an essential tool for business owners looking to expand their reach and build relationships with potential clients and partners. This blog post will help you find the best networking group for your business. We’ll discuss the different types of networking groups available and tips for choosing the right one. So whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your business to the next level, read on to learn more about networking groups and how they can benefit your business.

Building strong relationships with your current network can help you achieve success in your business. So how can you go about building better relationships with the people in your network?

Here are a few tips:

1) Connect with them on a personal level. Get to know them as individuals, not just as professionals.

2) Share valuable content with them. Show them that you’re someone they can trust and learn from.

3) Stay connected with them. Keep in touch regularly, even if it means getting up an hour earlier just to talk to everyone, comment on their posts and share their interesting posts.

4) Be sincere when speaking to people. Listen to when they talk, and respond in a manner that will show them that you have a real interest.

5) Don’t join a network just to pitch and self promote.

6) Share value with the network. Offer help, offer training, offer things at a very affordable, or even better, FREE rate.

7) Don’t be shy! Your voice matters! Quality networks will not laugh at your ideas or make you feel uncomfortable.

8) Learn from network members without being judgemental. They might seem like a “know=it-all” but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t or they are attention seeking. Most intelligent people (I’m talking about WOW smart people) might have a different way of speaking to or acting when amongst people. Leave prejudice and judgement at home.

9) A network that thrives on drama, is not for you.

10) The most important point for last… Just be yourself. People can spot fakes. Be authentic and let your guard down. People appreciate “real”. People relate to “real”. Your insecurities will become what people love about you.

But with so many groups to choose from, how do you know which one is right for you?

Let’s answer this with an example…

Danielle is a mom of two, a boy and a girl, and she started making educational digital downloadable worksheets for preschoolers. Her business is relatively new and she hasn’t got the budget to run Google Adwords or sponsored social media campaigns as yet.

Where will she meet (network) with potential customers, and people she can collaborate with in the future?

Platforms like Facebook and LinkedIN have multiple groups she can join in her specific niche.

Who’s her niche?

Parents of preschoolers.

She can join networking groups like “Mums in Business International” where self promotion isn’t killing the feeds of the group but the women on the groups collaborate, teach, mentor and guide each other to reach success. The main goal is to belong to a networking group that offers value, and isn’t all about sticking up a flyer on the group’s wall hoping to get a sale.

Once she has a list of people that she would like to connect with, she can start researching the networks that would benefit her as a person (development) and her business (profits)

You may think that you are an introvert, but the truth is every person needs to network in order to grow their business. The secret to finding a great networking opportunity is knowing what type of network you need and then seeking it out.

Identify your goals of what exactly it is that you want to achieve through networking.

If making professional connections matters most, try attending events at different organizations – this way you’ll have plenty of opportunities for one-on-one interactions without feeling overwhelmed by crowds.

Whatever type of connection you want from networking opportunities, be sure that they align with your goals before signing up!

Her clients need to be part of the network, so who is her client?

  • A parent
  • A teacher
  • A child-minder
  • A grand-parent

She also needs to be part of networks that inspire her, these would be…

  • People who share creative design ideas
  • People who are in the same line of work, or who produces the same type of product
  • People who have skills that she needs
  • People who have influence
  • People who work with children
